Butter bean produced from Heho, southern Shan State, has received loads of orders from Mandalay.
August is a month that butter beans are started harvesting.
“Price gets high a little here. The trade is doing well. Butter bean is harvested this month. But price will decrease gradually later. This bean is one of the most consumed items. It has received a lot of orders from Mandalay,” said an official from Shwe Phuu Shan State-produced crops trading in Heho.
Harvesting of beans is late this year compared to last year so prices are getting higher now. However, it is expected that beans prices will fall in next months.
“This year’s bean harvest season is late. Bocade production was abundant in the same period last year and this year is late. So price is good now. But it is likely that price will fall in next months. Yangon market doesn’t consume much butter bean but Bocade,” he said. — Thit Taw/ZS/ED
