Hindus celebrate Deepavali Festival in Yangon

The Deepavali Celebration 2018 was held at Yangon City Hall yesterday evening. The ceremony was held by Embassy of India, Hindu people, Myanmar-India international business cooperation and Myanmar-India Commonwealth Association.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye, Deputy Ministers, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, Ministers for the Yangon Region, Ambassadors from Foreign Embassies in Yangon, Chairpersons from respective associations and Hindu representatives.
During the ceremony, Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker and attendees opened the ceremony by cutting the ceremonial ribbon followed by lighting the oil lamps. This was followed by welcoming speeches by the Union Minister Thura U Aung Ko and Dr. Win Myat Aye.
Thereafter, Chairperson of the ceremony organizing committee U Zaw Zaw Naing expressed his thanks. Hindu traditional dances and Indian songs and dances were also performed at the ceremony.—Ye Htut (Translated by Kyaw Zin Lin)
