Host country to be changed for Asian Cup U-23 Qualifiers Group I

LOCAL NEWS

The host country for the 2022 Asian Cup U-23 Qualifiers Group I involving Myanmar has been changed and the host country will be confirmed next by the Asian Football Confederation.
Three teams: Vietnam, Myanmar and China Taipei men’s national football teams are participating in Group I of the Qualifiers, and the China Taipei team was originally allowed to host the event but it withdrew from the tourney previously.
Myanmar has not applied to host the group stage before, and thus Vietnam is the only country left to host the tournament.
If the Vietnam Football Federation does not want to host the event, the AFC may have to do so in another country with a lower incidence of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Group stages of the AFC U-23 Qualifiers will be held from 25 to 31 October and will be divided into 11 groups.
The Myanmar team is already preparing for the tournament and is headed by Bulgarian coach Velizar Popov.
According to the Qualifiers format, 11 top teams in each group and the top four teams in total, 15 teams in total, will qualify for the next stage.
All the Asian Cup U-23 Qualifiers will be held in the last week of October. – Ko Nyi Lay /GNLM
