Hundreds of donors contribute to COVID-19 prevention, treatment

Union Minister for Health and Sports, Dr Myint Htwe, accepted donations of monetary support and medical supplies for combating COVID-19 at Kyaikkasan Stadium, Yangon, yesterday.
The donations were made to the Ministry of Health and Sports and the National Central Committee on COVID-19 Prevention, Containment and Treatment.
Firstly, the Chairman of the Myanmar Chamber of Commerce for Pharmaceutical and Medical Device, U Zaw Moe Khine, KBZ Executive Director U Zaw Lin Aung and UMFCCI President U Zaw Min Win explained the donations on behalf of all donors.
The Union Minister then delivered an address where he said the ventilators, patient monitors and other medical supplies and devices will not help not only with COVID-19, but with other patients in the future as well.
He said these can also be used to train future doctors and nurses and thus fulfill both short and long-term goals. He then thanked all donors for the donation.
Next, the Union Minister and Director-General Dr Thar Tun Kyaw accepted the donations and gave certificates of honor in return. The donation ceremony saw K212,325,000 for the central committee and K2,911,575,050 for the Ministry of Health and Sports and USD15,000 worth of medical supplies and devices, K729,502,000 to the Yangon Region Public Health Department, and basic commodities for quarantine centers, donated by 192 donors.—MNA (Translated by Zaw Htet Oo)
