Illegal foodstuffs, consumer goods, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

The on-duty teams under the supervision of the Customs Department made inspections and captured six kinds of goods including 10 Westar watches and 10 Bilano couple watches worth K14,762,000 without official documents from the luggage at the Yangon International Airport on 11, 12, 14 and 15 March, two kinds of goods including two HP 15.6” laptops that were not included in the personal allowance worth K7,056,000 and 3,765.5 metres of polyester laminated worth K11 million that were different from Import Declaration (ID) at the Yangon International Airport (Import Desk), 180 kilogrammes of washing machine hose pipes and 43,000 kilogrammes of bolts and nuts that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) worth K80,014,200, 21 kinds of goods including 26,290 kilogrammes of dried konjac chips that were different from the Export Declaration (ED) and 400 Minigao children bicycles that were taken over 61 days of VPA worth K101,788,848 from six containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal checkpoint and six kinds of goods including five hand trolley capacities that were taken over 61 days of VPA at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint on 15 and 16 March. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
In addition, a combined team at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint conducted 40 cartons of Wai Wai instant rice vermicelli and 1,800 litres of Gaysorn vegetable oil worth K6.7 million without official documents from a Hino bus (approximately K30 million) heading to Yangon from Ye on 15 March and 100 cartons of M-150 energy drink and 45 cartons of Wai Wai instant rice vermicelli worth K4,275,000 without official documents from an Ankai bus (approximately K40 million) heading to Mandalay to Mawlamyine on 16 March. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 16 March, an unregistered Nissan March car worth K2.5 million was captured on Hledan road in Kamayut township and the action was taken under the law.
On 17 March, an on-duty team at the Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine) checkpoint seized 1290 litres of two-shrimp palm oil worth K3.618,000 without official documents that were stacked to carry to Thaton township at the Mottama township side. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Therefore, 20 arrests (estimated value of K350,274,448) were made on 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17 March, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
