Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade are being effectively made in accordance with the law.
On 2 September, the combined duty team seized 10 vehicles (estimated value of K175 million) that were parked near the detour of Myitkyina township carrying 183 motorbikes, seven kinds of motorbike parts and foodstuffs worth K408.05 million without official documents. The action was taken in accordance with Customs procedures.
On 3 September, the combined teams managed by the Customs Department captured three kinds of industrial goods valued at K90.032 million without official documents from five containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint, seven kinds of industrial goods valued at K158.529 million that were different from the Import Declaration (ID) from four containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port, two kinds of consumer goods worth K15.4 million without official documents from luggage of a passenger at the Yangon International Airport and a Mitsubishi Fuso truck (approximately K35 million), heading to Yangon from Myawady, carrying industrial goods worth K25 million that were not declared in the ID at the Ywathagyi Dry Port. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 4 September, the combined on-duty teams impounded two trucks (approximately K85 million) carrying 15 kinds of industrial materials worth K71.605 million without official documents near Han Myintmo village in Kyaukse township, an unregistered Toyota Mark X (estimated value of K3.5 million) in Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) township and an unregistered Mazda (estimated value of K6 million) in Pathein township. The action was carried out under Customs procedures and the Export and Import Law.
Moreover, on 4 and 5 September, the combined teams conducted inspections resulting in the seizure of two kinds of foodstuffs and two kinds of consumer goods worth K7 million without official documents from a Golden Dragon bus (approximately K50 million), heading to Yangon from Thamanya, at the Nyaungkhashay x-ray station and illegal teak weighing 3.183 tonnes and illegal other timbers weighing 1.942 tonnes worth about K2 million in Toungoo district. The action was conducted in line with Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
In total, on four consecutive days from 2 to 5 September, a total of 45 cases were recorded, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods valued at approximately K1.132 billion, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
