Illegal teaks, livestock medicines and household appliances seized

Officials confiscate illegal timbers.

Managed by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken against illicit trades under the law.
On 31 March, the port duty inspection team under the management of the Customs Department carried out inspections at the TMT Port container operation station. They seized livestock medicines (estimated at K75,648,604) in violation of import licences, and action was taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, an Investigation and Anti-Illegal Trade Division team under the management of the Customs Department conducted an investigation at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Inspection Station. They seized household appliances (estimated at K41,540,000) in violation of import licences, and action was taken under the Customs Law.
On 1 April, a combined inspection team led by Forest Department under Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted an investigation and illegally teak weighing 7.0622 tonnes (estimated at K1,733,760) in Toungoo and Thayawady Districts, and action was taken under the Customs Law.
Therefore, five arrests (estimated value of K118,922,364) were made on 31 March and 1 April, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
