Illegal teaks, vehicles seized in different cities

Vehicls are seized in Sagaing and Mandalay for transport of illegally imported goods on 28 and 29 May.

Under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade in accordance with the law.
On 28 May, a combined inspection team conducted inspection at Mandalay’s 16th-mile Kyaukchaw Inspection Camp, under the management of Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
A total of 0.5 tonne of illegal teak timber worth K500,000 and one TOYOTA REGIUS ACE vehicle carrying pieces of timber worth K11 million were seized and action is being taken in accordance with the forest law.
Similarly, investigations were carried out under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force in Sagaing Region.
A team led by the Myanmar Police Force seized one unlicensed 12-wheeler Hino Profia truck in Sagaing Township and it was worth of K3 million and one unlicensed truck in Shwebo Township worth K1.5 million and took action under the Import and Export Law.
An inspection team led by Sagaing Region Forest Department inspected 2.5922 tonnes of teak posts worth K150,000 in Kanbalu Township in accordance with the Forest Law and a net value of K4.65 million of goods were seized on the same day.
Similarly, a combined inspect team led by the Region Forest Department seized 14.7241 tonnes of illegal teak worth K8,980,620 in Bago and Toungoo districts, Bago Region under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 29 May.
An inspection team led by the Myanmar Police Force is also taking action against one unlicensed TOYOTA ALPHARD vehicle worth K1.8 million at the junction of DaikU-Sittoung Road (Strategic Road) and between mileposts 81/4 and 81/5 between Yangon-Mawlamyine Road.
Thus, a total of 13 arrests worth approximately K43,130,620 were made on 28 and 29 May, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.—MNA
