Illegal timber, foodstuffs, utensils and vehicles seized

Under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade in accordance with the law.
On 29 January, officials conducted inspection at the container inspection station at Myanmar Industrial Port.
A total of K113,229,000 worth general consumer goods not enlisted in the import declaration ID (estimated value K13.304 million), electrical appliances (estimated value K16.42 million), five types of agricultural machinery spare parts (estimated value K1.5 million), phone accessories (estimated value K7.525 million), cosmetics (estimated value K74.48 million) were seized.
Action is being taken against the offenders in accordance with the customs law.
Similarly, Myawady (OSS) Customs Department of Kayin State conducted a surprise patrol near the Myawady Trade Zone.
A total of 200 cartons of illegal energy drink (estimated value K2 million) from a 6-wheeler coming from the Myasandi detour across the Myawady Trade Zone to the Asian Highway junction and one Mitsubishi Canter 6-wheeler (estimated value K 23 million) carrying the goods, which is a total of value of K25 million were seized and action is being taken in accordance with customs law.
The customs team on duty also conducted inspections at the Mayangchaung Permanent Checkpoint. Imported goods (estimated value K1,112,860) and motorcycle spare parts (estimated value K2,290,800) from the 22-wheeler from Myawady to Yangon were seized.
Similarly, under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force, a combined team led by the Department of Forest conducted inspections.
Forest Areas in Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady districts, 16.3962 tonnes of illegal timber (estimated value K2,125,592) was seized and action is being taken against offenders in accordance with the forest law.
In addition, a combined inspection team led by the Customs Department inspected 10 illegal chainsaws excluding knives (estimated value K1.5 million) and 160 various sizes of knives (estimated value K2.4 million) at the 16th-mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint, Mandalay Region. Action is being taken in accordance with the customs law. In addition, a combined inspection team under the management of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force (ACT) conducted an investigation and seized 665 bags (estimated value K7,094,220) weight of 50 kilogrammes of fertilizers in excess of the import limit in Sagaing Township and action is being taken in accordance with the customs law.
