Illegal timber, unregistered vehicles, goods seized

The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee takes strict action against illegal trade under the law. The inspection team led by in-charge of the Chinshwehaw trade zone seized seven unregistered vehicles (estimated value of K25 million) at the security checkpoint on 8 January.
On 12 January, the Customs Department also seized K124,143,000 worth of items imported from China at Myanmar Industrial Port — 13 kinds of motorcycle spare parts (K104,750,000), five types of commodities (K16,513,000) and six 4.5 litre shampoo packs (K2,880,000).
Similarly, the department also confiscated three boxes containing 65 used Samsung Galaxy 4 Phone (K55,310,780) which were not mentioned import lists at the warehouse of Yangon International Airport.
The Ayeyawady Region Forest Department conducted an inspection and seized K688,800 worth of illegal timber (2.7552 tonnes) at Magyichaungphya in Pathein Township.
The Bago Region Forest Department confiscated 4.2646 tonnes of illegal timber (K787,380) in the forest reserves of Bago and Toungoo districts yesterday.
Moreover, on 12 January, the combined team of Mon State anti-illegal trade task force also seized K1,410,000 worth of clothing, including used and children’s clothes in the passenger bus at Thanlwin Bridge (Mawlamyine) checkpoint.
Moreover, Sagaing Region officials seized K1,200,000 worth of one Lifan tractor (K200,000) and six-wheel Canter vehicle (K1,000,000) yesterday.
Therefore, the officials take action against traffickers for a total of K205,863,780 worth of unlicensed vehicles and other goods seized at the Chinshwehaw trade camp, Myanmar Industrial Port, warehouse of Yangon International Airport and in Mon State as per the procedures of Customs Department, K1,476,180 worth of illegal timber confiscated in Ayeyawady and Bago regions under the procedures of the Forest Department and K1,200,000 worth of two unregistered vehicles seized in Sagaing Region under the Export and Import Law, according to the committee. — MNA
