Illegal timbers, consumer goods, electronics seized

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illegal trades across the country.
On 2 May, a combined inspection team on duty under the supervision of the Kayin State Anti-Illegal Trade Special Task Force conducted inspections at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Checkpoint. It confiscated K7.5 million worth of Monosodium Glutamate (MSG), which was not declared in the Import Declaration, from a truck heading to Yangon from Myawady. The action was taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint seized K 207.63 million worth of consumer goods, which were not declared in the Import Declaration. The action was taken under the Customs Law.
In addition, on 3 May, 0.3200 tonne of illegal teak (estimated value of K48,000) were seized in the Kabaung forest reserve in Ottwin Township of Toungoo District and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, on 2 and 3 May, three arrests were made (an estimated value of K 215.178 million, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
