Illegal timbers, decoration accessories, mobile parts, car parts and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
An on-duty inspection team under the instructions of the Customs Department conducted inspections at the Yangon International Airport Cargo Warehouse on 6 September.
Officials captured K473,775,000 worth of auto parts and phone accessories that were different from the Import Declaration (ID). The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 9 September, an inspection team made inspections and seized a total of 1.4572 tonnes of illegal raw teak floors worth K961,752 from two vehicles (approximately K51 million) in West Malit village in Hlegu township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Afterwards, on 10 September, an on-duty team conducted inspections under the Kayin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force. They confiscated K1,650,000 worth of duty-free 55 rolls of floor linoleum that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a total of 5.8198 tonnes of illegal timbers including teak worth K1,582,912 were captured in the Binedar forest reserve in Kyauktaga township of Bago district.
Therefore, seven arrests (approximately K528,969,664) were made on 6, 9 and 10 September, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
