Illegal timbers, electronics and vehicles seized

An inspection team led by Myanmar Police Force made inspections on 27 March and captured an unregistered Kenbo 125 motorbike (approximately K300,000) in Shwebo township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
On 28 March, the on-duty Customs teams confiscated K37,231,650 worth of various electronics that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Hteedan Port container checkpoint, two sets of Huawei power rating worth K30,049,284 that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Myanmar Industrial Port Terminal container checkpoint and an inspection team led by the Lashio Township Customs Department seized a total of 0.800 tonne of illegal timbers worth K3.5 million from a vehicle (approximate value of K22 million) heading to Muse from Mandalay near a toll gate on the Mandalay-Lashio-Muse Pyidaungsu highway. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
In addition, a total of 74.8972 tonnes of illegal teak and hardwood worth K28,892,556 was seized in the Mukhar forest reserve in Minhla township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, six arrests (estimated value of K121,973,490) were made on 27 and 28 March, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.— MNA/MKKS
