SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illicit trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Chairman of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, a combined team made inspections at the Letpanhla-Singu Temporary Checkpoint on 9 July, according to information.
Officials confiscated Chinese snacks worth K1.68 million and monosodium glutamate (MSG) worth K4.15 million without official documents. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, on 11 July, a combined team made inspections at the checkpoint of the Attaran Bridge under the supervision of the Mon State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
They captured 13 old freezers and 10 old washing machines that showed no official documents worth K1.51 million from a Toyota HiAce car (approximately K25 million), and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, on the same day, a total of 6.7046 tonnes of illegal teak, hardwood and other timbers worth K3,739,016 were captured in the Bago, Toungoo, Pyay and Thayawady districts.
Therefore, seven arrests estimated at K36,079,016 were made on 9 and 11 July, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
