Illegal timbers, fertilizers, fuel oil, foodstuffs, consumer goods and vehicles seized

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
A combined inspection team conducted inspections and captured 420 gallons of illegal fuel worth K4,074,000 and a vehicle (approximately K13,800,000). that carried these illegal items on 31 May. The action was taken under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
Moreover, on 1 June, the on-duty inspection team made inspections at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint and confiscated K3,124,000 worth of foodstuffs that showed no official documents from an express bus. The action was taken under the Customs Law.
On 2 June, a combined team under the management of the Mon State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force captured 2.7114 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K271,140 on the Chaunghngakwa-Tayana Road in Kyaikmaraw Township and action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, on the same day, a team led by the General Administration Department seized 380 bags of illegal fertilizers worth K13,300,000 from a truck and action was taken under the Export/Import Law.
On the same day, the on-duty team at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Checkpoint captured two sets of air-conditioners worth K600,000 and various sandals worth K1,800,000 that showed no official documents from a vehicle and action was charged under the Customs Law.
Thus, five arrests worth approximately K36,969,140 were made on 31 May, 1 and 2 June, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
