Illegal timbers, fertilizers, mobile phones, foodstuffs, consumer goods and vehicles confiscated

A combined team led by the Myanmar Police Force under the supervision of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections.
Officials confiscated K55,720,000 worth of consumer goods and foodstuffs without official documents in Sagaing township on 13 November and two unregistered motorbikes (estimated value of K350,000) in Indaw township on 13 and 14 November. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
A combined team captured K14,400,000 worth of foodstuffs without official documents from a Foton truck (approximately K15 million) heading from Lashio to Mandalay at 17/3 Milepost on PyinOoLwin-Mandalay road on 13 November and 150 bags of fertilizer worth K4.5 million without official documents from a Nissan UD car (estimated value of K21 million) at the 16-Mile Kyaukchaw Checkpoint on 14 November. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Similarly, on 14 November, an on-duty team seized 34 old mobile phones worth K13 million, hidden in luggage, without official documents at the Yangon International Airport Warehouse and the action was taken under Customs Procedures.
An inspection team captured K21,140,910 worth of consumer goods that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a Cheng Long tractor head with a trailer (approximately K50 million) in front of the Bago Industrial Zone on the Myawady-Hpa-an-Yangon Road. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
The 4-Mile Forest Combined Inspection Team of Taunggyi township confiscated K14,670,000 worth of consumer goods and foodstuffs that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Mitsubishi Fuso car (estimated value of K20 million). The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
On 15 November, the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint seized 50 cartons of vermicelli (Blue) worth K2.5 million from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon and the action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Afterwards, a total of 19.7538 tonnes of illegal teak worth K11,366,620 was captured in Bago and Toungoo districts and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 23 arrests (at an estimated value of K243,647,530) were made on three consecutive days from 13 to 15 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
