Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, batteries, car parts, industrial materials, consumer goods, electronics and vehicles confiscated

An on-duty team under the supervision of the Mandalay Region-Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections at the 16-Mile Kyawtchaw checkpoint on 9 January.
Officials confiscated K29,722,690 worth of foodstuffs, batteries, car parts, industrial materials, consumer goods and electronics from two vehicles (approximately K24 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Similarly, a total of 8.7334 tonnes of illegally sawn hardwood worth K4,366,700 from a vehicle (approximately K30 million) was captured at the 24/5 Milepost on Yangon-Mandalay highway in Hlegu township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, a total of 13.3384 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K859,144 was seized in the Gwa township of Thandwe district and the action was taken under the Forest Law. A total of 28,8318 tonnes of illegal teak and hardwood worth K16,305,628 was seized in the Phyukun forest reserve in Pyu township in Toungoo district and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 6 January, an on-duty team at the Yangon International Airport confiscated K400,000 worth of a DJI mini (3) pro drone (used) without official documents on 9 January and two goods including a transformer DC resistance tester worth K3.36 million that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Airport Warehouse on 10 January. The action was taken under Customs procedures. The Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint seized 60 rolls of linoleum worth K1.8 million without official documents from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon on 10 January. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Therefore, 13 arrests (estimated value of K110,814,162) were made on 9 and 10 January, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
