Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, consumer goods, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

A combined team at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint conducted inspections on 8 February and captured 14,100 kilogrammes of porcelain ceramic pillar and 4,200 kilogrammes of raw material talc powder worth K12,531,000 that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from three vehicles and three goods include 150 cartons of M-150 energy drink worth K4.5 million without official documents from three vehicles and two trailers (approximately K255,000,000). The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 9 February, the Customs Department inspection teams seized 266,654 kilogrammes of galvanized squares worth K36,382,710 that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Hteedan container checkpoint and 30,000 kilogrammes of plastic black masterbatch worth K5 million that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) and without an import licence from a container at the Myanmar International Terminals (Thilawa). The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Similarly, officials made inspections at the Asia World Port container checkpoint and confiscated 1,680 PVC lunch boxes worth K10,080,000 that were different from the Import Declaration (ID) from a container. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 10 February, a total of 4.186 tonnes of illegal hardwood worth K1,046,500 was captured in the North Zarmayi forest reserve in Lepadan township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 12 arrests (at an estimated value of K324,540,210) were made on three consecutive days from 8 to 10 February, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
