A mobile team of the Customs Department inspected vehicles on the Myawady-Hpa-an- Yangon Road on 23 February and confiscated 8,500 kilogrammes of PVC resin worth K13,056,085 that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan Diesel tractor head and a trailer (approximate value of K70 million) near Zayetkwin village on the No 2 highway. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
The on-duty teams seized seven cartons of toy small cars with batteries and remote controls worth K2 million that were different from the Import Declaration (ID) from two containers and 312 kilogrammes of ECG recording paper (thermal paper) worth K6,552,000 that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint on 23 February and four kinds of goods including 300 basin waste P-traps that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Myanmar International Terminal (Thilawa) on 24 February. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 24 February, officials at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint captured 3,000 kilogrammes of empty cement bags worth K6.6 million that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Mitsubishi Fuso tractor head and a trailer (approximately K115 million) heading to Yangon from Myawady. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A combined team made surprise inspections of warehouses in Pale ward 1 in Mingaladon township and nabbed 14 kinds of goods including 108 bags of industrial raw materials, 40 cartons of Lactasoy (soy milk) and 110 used fans worth K41.48 million without official documents in a warehouse. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
A combined team found motorbikes without Customs duties from two vehicles (approximately K29 million) in Muse township.
Officials also inspected a warehouse near those two vehicles and found another 108 brand-new motorbikes (worth 119 million) without official documents. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 25 February, a total of 3.3168 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K1,658,400 was captured in Toungoo district and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 15 arrests (estimated value of K413,586,485) were made on three consecutive days from 23 to 25 February, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
