Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, consumer goods, mobile accessories and vehicles confiscated

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
A combined inspection team searched a vehicle on Kyarkalay road near Kyonphe Village on 15 July, seized frozen artificial meats worth K1.35 million without official documents and a Toyota Hilux Vigo at estimated value of K15 million. Total worth of seizures amounted to K16,350,000 and the action was taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade special task force, an anti-illegal trade team of Muse and relevant departments searched two trucks driven from Namkham on Swansaw ward of Muse. The team seized foodstuffs, consumer goods and mobile accessories at estimated value of K28,388,766 without official documents and the two trucks worth K41 million. Total worth of seizures amounted to K69,388,766 and the action was taken under the Customs Law.
In Kayin State on 15 July, the combination team examined a vehicle on Kyonsauk village, beside of Myawady-Mawlamyine road. The team confiscated empty gas cylinders and accessories, construction materials and other utensils at estimated value of K15,011,500 and a Mitsubishi Fuso truck worth K22 million. The team also inspected a vehicle at Myawady OSS trade zone and seized various kinds of footwear worth estimated K1,825,950 expressed more than Import Declaration (ID). On 16 July, at the Thanlwin Bridge (Hpa-an) checkpoint, the inspection team seized a repaired generator valued at K35 million without official documents and a Nissan Diesel 22 wheels truck and trailer worth K32 million. And seized consumer goods without duty free estimated value of K114 million from four vehicles which was drive from Myawady to Yangon at Kawkareik (Tadarkyo) checkpoint. Hence, seizures of total amounts reached K117,237,450 and the action was taken under the Customs Law.
An inspection team searched a truck, driven from Myawady to Yangon near Phayagyi checkpoint on 14 July. The team confiscated bikes worth K8,535,000 without official documents and a Hino truck worth K25 million and action was taken under the Customs Law. On 17 July, a combined team led by Forest Department seized 17.397 tonnes of illegal teak worth K5,349,020 in Toungoo and Thayawady districts and the action was taken under the Forest Law. An inspection team led by Myanmar Police Force seized a Hijet without license worth K2.5 million at Thapyaykan village of Waw township and the action was taken under the Import and Export Law. A combined team seized 0.7192 tonne of illegal timbers worth estimated value K474,672 at Yinmabin on 17 July. The team led by Myanmar Police Force impounded a Toyota Liteace without licence worth K2.5 million in Sagaing. Total worth of seizures amounted to K2,974,672.
Therefore, 12 cases (approximately K247,334,908) were arrested from 14 to 17 July. —MNA
