SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Chairman of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, a combined inspection team made inspections at the warehouse in Mandalay on 15 June.
They seized K195,339,000 worth of consumer goods and household appliances and electronics and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 16 June, inspections were carried out under the supervision of the Yangon Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
Similarly, a total of 4.2876 tonnes of illegal Taungthayat timbers at an estimated value of K300,132 from a truck (approximately K30 million) were captured on the street of in the Zaykaba compound of Mingaladon township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, the combined team led by the Myanmar Police Force and General Administration Department under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections on 17 June. They confiscated 8,000 kilogrammes of illegal ammonium nitrate at an estimated value of K19.2 million in Paung township and the action was taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
In addition, on the same day, the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint captured 315 cartons of Lactasoy worth K1.835 million and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
The on-duty team at Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Checkpoint confiscated 300 electric frying pans which exceed the Import Declaration (ID) worth K2.250 million and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 17 June, the combined team consisting of security forces and the Food and Drug Administration Department made the inspections and confiscated foodstuffs worth K47,348,000 from two 12-wheel trucks (approximately K50 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon in Bago township. In addition, on 18 June, a total of 8.97 tonnes of illegal teak (approximately K2,746,520) were seized in the Khapaung forest reserve of Toungoo District and the Thaewah forest reserve of Thayawady District. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
On the same day, the team led by Myanmar Police Force seized 292 gallons of illegal fuel oil and 156 gallons of diesel oil worth K5,047,600 in Shwe Bo and Wetlet townships and the action was taken under the Myanmar Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law. In addition, an unregistered BMW car worth K3 million was captured in Sagaing township and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Therefore, 20 arrests (approximately K357,066,252) were made on four consecutive days from 15 to 18 June, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
