Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, consumer goods, vehicles seized

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken against offenders to prevent illicit trade under the law.
An on-duty inspection team from Mayanchaung checkpoint in Mon State under the supervision of the Customs Department inspected on the detour near Shwephyu rubber firm at 97th-mile and sixth-furlong milestone on Yangon-Myawady highway on 7 September. Officials seized a Toyota crown without licence, estimated K2.5 million, which departed on the detour and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a combined team comprising officials of the Customs Department conducted inspection at Myanmar Industrial Port container inspection camp on 9 September. They nabbed sport suits and shoes, which were excessive in ID from a container estimated at K27,373,500 and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
Furthermore, a combined inspection team under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Mandalay Region, led by Region Customs Department performed inspection near the Htonbo gate in Yangon-Mandalay highway. They seized illegal foodstuffs, without official documents, from a vehicle estimated at K68.510 million and a Mitsubishi Fuso six-wheel truck, which carried goods estimated at K10 million, and total estimated at K78.510 million were seized and the action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
A combined inspection team under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Sagaing Region, led by Myanmar Police Force conducted inspection at a checkpoint of the Sagaing City gate on 10 September. They seized a Toyota Wish, without licence estimated at K4.5 million and action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
Next, a combined team under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force of Bago Region, led by Region Forest Department performed inspection at Khabaung forest reserve in Toungoo on 11 September. They found 0.5058 tonne of ironwood worth about K252,900 and action were taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, nine cases at estimated value of K135,636,400 were taken action from 7, 9, 10 and 11 September, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. —MNA
