Officials seize illegal timbers.

Managed by the Anti- illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken against illegal trades under the law.
On 25 March, the port duty inspection team led by the Department of Customs carried out inspections at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Inspection Station and seized various sizes of electric water motors and PVC pipes (estimated at K133,600,000) imported in violation of import licences, and action is taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, combined inspection teams conducted inspections at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint in Mon State.
Illegal apples and pears that could not show any official documents and carried more than what is stated in the import declaration (ID) (estimated at K1,173,700) were seized on a 12-wheel truck leaving Myawady for Yangon, and action is taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, an inspection team led by the Customs Department of 16-Mile Rock Inspection Station under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force in Mandalay Region carried out patrol inspections.
At mile post 16/4 of the Mandalay-PyinOoLwin Road, ownerless stacked illegal vehicle spare parts (estimated at K4,995,000) were seized, and action is taken under the Customs Law.
On 26 March, an inspection team led by Police under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force in Homalin Township carried out inspections and seized an unregistered motorcycle (estimated at K180,000) and is prosecuted under the Import and Export Law.
Similarly, a joint inspection team led by the Forest Department under the management of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force carried out and seized 5.4216 tonnes of illegal teak, wood and timbers (estimated at K1,141,154) and action is taken under the Forest Law.
Thus, a total of five arrests were made on 25 and 26 March (estimated value of K139,948,700), according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. – MNA
