Illegal timbers, industrial materials, foodstuffs, consumer goods and vehicles confiscated

An on-duty team under the supervision of the Kayin State Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force impounded 5.468 tonnes of illegal teak worth K1,804,440 in the Thandaung forest reserve in Thandaunggyi township on 2 July. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, a combined team conducted inspections at the Nanbyu bridge in Tanai township on 2 July and captured a Toyota Surf (approximate value of K5 million) without official documents and the action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
In addition, on 3 July, the on-duty teams under the management of the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force nabbed a total of 0.101 tonne of illegal gumkino timbers without official documents from a Hyundai mini bus (estimated value of K20 million) travelling from Lashio to Mandalay and four kinds of goods (worth K511,500) including a total of 0.465 tonne of illegal teak timbers from a CWD dump truck (estimated value of K13 million) heading to PyinOoLwin from Mandalay at the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw checkpoint and five kinds of goods worth K3,335,000 including a set of unfinished teak furniture from an AD van station wagon (approximate value of K20 million), two kinds of goods (worth K2.3 million) including four cupboards from an AD van station wagon (approximate value of K20 million) and six kinds of goods worth K3.195 million including six single wingback chairs from an AD van station wagon (approximate value of K20 million) at the 15/3 Milepost on the Mandalay-PyinOoLwin road. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Similarly, a combined team led by the Monywa Township Customs Department head nabbed three kinds of goods worth K7.3 million including 90 bags of sugar made in India without official documents and the action was taken under Customs procedures.
A total of five kinds of goods (worth K3,764,250) including a set of infant lights and 10 kinds of goods worth 3,177,800 including two sets of commodes without official documents were seized near a small bus station compound at the Theinthanchi bus station compound and the bypass road in Muse township on 4 July. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
An on-duty team at the Myanmar Industrial Port seized 100 fire hose reels worth K3.15 million on 4 July and the action was taken under Customs procedures. Therefore, 17 arrests (estimated value of K126,649,970) were made on three consecutive days from 2 to 4 July, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA/MKKS
