Illegal timbers, mobile phones, industrial materials and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Customs Department, an on-duty team conducted inspections on 21 November.
Officials captured 6 mobile phones (worth K6 million) without official documents at the Yangon International Airport and K14,348,250 worth of industrial materials that did not match with import declaration (ID) at the Airport Warehouse. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Similarly, an on-duty team nabbed over K113 million worth of construction materials without an import licence from two containers at the Hteedan container checkpoint and K7.5 million worth of industrial materials that were not mentioned in the import declaration (ID) from a container at the Myanmar Industrial Port container checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
A combined team under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized an unregistered Nissan AD van car (approximately K5 million) at the Mau Combined Checkpoint of Monywa township. The action was taken under the export and import law.
In addition, an unregistered Toyota Passo car (approximately K2.5 million) was captured at the entrance gate of Magway township and action was taken under the export and import law.
On 23 November, a total of 8.5268 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K3,543,450 was seized in Toungoo and Nyaunglebin districts and action was taken under the forest law.
Therefore, a total of nine arrests (at an estimated value of K152,669,700) were made on 21 and 23 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
