Illegal timbers, production materials, raw industrial materials, vehicles and motor schooners confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Customs Department, an on-duty team conducted inspections on 15 November.
Officials captured K3,694,194 worth of silicon dioxide that took over 60 days from a container at the warehouse of Yangon International Airport, K3.9 million worth of laminated safety glass that was reported by the owner to abandon from a container at the Asia World Port Terminal Container Checkpoint, K5,880,000 worth of four goods including iron rollers that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) and K20 million worth of four goods including Paint Brushes that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from two containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Checkpoint, K7,341,600 worth of three goods including easy chairs that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a Cheng Long car with a trailer (estimated value of K50 million) on Myawady-Hpa-an-Yangon road. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a combined team made inspections under the supervision of the Kachin State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
Officials nabbed 10 motor schooners worth K68 million that were used in illegal gold mining in the Ayeyawady River in Bhamo township, according to information and the action was taken under the Myanmar Mines Law.
In addition, a total of 3.4658 tonnes of illegal sawn teak, teak doors, and teak door parts worth K2,288,428 was captured from a vehicle (estimated value of K11 million) on Shwebo-Myitkyina Union Highway road in Mohnyin township. The action was taken under the Forest Law. Official seized K1,289,560 worth of illegal timbers from three vehicles (approximately K45 million) in Myitkyina township and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 17 November, a combined inspection team led by the Myanmar Police Force under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force seized two unregistered motorbikes worth K300,000 on the Shwebo-Myitkyina road in Indaw township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
A total of 8.1600 tonnes of illegal teak and hardwood was captured in Toungoo, Nyaunglepin and Pyay districts and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 30 arrests (at an estimated value of 222,028,270) were made on 15 and 17 November, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
