India-Myanmar traditional food festival kicks off in Yangon

The India-Myanmar Traditional Food Festival jointly organized by the Myanmar Women Entrepreneurs’ Network (MYANWEN) and the Indian Women’s Association of Yangon took place at the India Centre, at the corner of Shwebontha Street and Merchant Street, Yangon on 15 July 2023.
The purpose of the festival was to raise awareness of Indian and Myanmar traditional foods, to strengthen friendship between India and Myanmar through cultural exchange and to foster development of local micro-, small-, medium-sized enterprises.
Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Shri Vinay Kumar, and Indian Women’s Association Yangon’s Chairperson Mrs Iona Sinha, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry U Aye Win and Vice Chair of MYANWEN Dr Su Hla Han opened the event by lighting the oil lamps.
Then, Indian and Myanmar traditional dance troupes entertained the guests. — Myo Min Thura/KZL
