Inlay region receives numerous visitors during Thingyan holiday

Inlay Lake and Nyaungshwe Town in Shan State are receiving numerous local tourists during the Maha Thingyan holiday period. More than a thousand pilgrims and vacationers from across the country are paying homage daily to the PhaungdawOo Pagoda in the Inlay Lake, according to U Than Win, Vice-Chair of the Pagoda Board of Trustees.
PhaungdawOo pagoda, which usually receives around four hundred pilgrims, is now crowded during the holiday period. The pagoda has now set the visiting hours from dawn to six pm due to the increasing visitors, he said.
Inlay region is renowned not only for the PhaungdawOo pagoda but also for the Alotawpaut Pagoda, Inntein Pagoda, 100-year-old Ngaphe Chaung ancient monastery, weaving houses, silversmith, floating farms, and the Minethout Bridge, which all can be accessible by a boat.
Visitors to the lake come through Nyaungshwe town, Minethoutinn village, Nanpan Town, Lwinyeint village and Khaungtine village. — Nay Myo Thurein/GNLM
