Inter-ministerial coordination committee meets for preventing 2019 Novel Coronavirus


The inter-ministerial coordination committee for preventing 2019 Novel Coronavirus, which was recently named as the COVID-19 by the World Health Organization, held a meeting yesterday at the Ministry of Health and Sports yesterday.
Professor Dr Thet Khaing Win, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry and the Chairman of committee, reviewed the works of committee, improving health conditions of persons under investigation at the hospitals of Yangon and Mandalay regions, the helps of state agencies to allay public fears when taking persons under investigation to the hospitals and controlling public entertainments.
He also expressed thanks to the Ministry of Information for publishing information in ethnic languages, and requested to increase its momentum at present.
The Ministry of Health and Sports is distributing pamphlets and posters to disseminate knowledge about the disease at schools, factories and hotels.
He also requested the coordination of relevant state agencies with the Ministry of Health and Sports.
The Permanent Secretary asked for the assistance of General Administration Department in collecting health conditions of people, especially those who returned from overseas jobs.
Up to date, the Ministry of Information has published 260 news and photos for local media, 109 news and photos for international media, 29 editorials and statements, 4 interviews, 178 TV spots for health programmes from 25 January to 7 February.
The Ministry of Information will also send some video clips about hand washing to the cinemas.
The inter-ministerial coordination committee is comprised of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Health and Sports.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)
