Hlegu Township, which is composed of Yangon Region, has developed over recent years, and property sales have increased now.
Under Myanmar tradition, people never do home moving in a three-month rain retreat, but property transactions have increased in townships of Yangon Region, including Hlegu, and most buyers are from other towns and cities.
“Many buyers flock to Hlegu this month. We sell land plots whose prices are low, and ownership is assured. There were many buyers last summer, too, and now it has increased more. Among them, most are natives of other cities, and rather than for investment purposes, they buy them for living,” said an estate agent from Hlegu Township.
With an increase in sales, realty owners have enjoyed attractive prices.
“Transactions are happening visibly in urban areas like Pyitawtha and Yeiktha wards and Bogyoke Aung San Street. Some buyers favour slip-land (a land plot which can prove land ownership approved by the township land department), and some favour land plots included in village areas, called Ywamyay (village plots). Prices become high recently,” she said. — Thit Taw/ZS
