Japan’s Mitsubishi Company get green light to provide services at Mandalay International Airport

Passenger transport service of Mandalay International Airport will be provided by Mitsubishi Company of Japan in April, according to the Department of Civil Aviation (Mandalay).
With the aim of creating an aviation and logistic hub at the airport, Department of Civil Aviation invited tenders for private public partnership programme. The department and Mitsubishi-JALUX-SPA Consortium signed an agreement on 16 November 2014, an official of DAC (Mandalay) told media.
He said that all services at the airport will be handed over to the Japanese company. Now, they observe the airport. Thanks to cooperation with the Japanese company, it is expected the international airport to have a firm market and an exit of larger volume of export and import.”
Mandalay International Airport can handle three million passengers per year while Yangon International Airport gives services to 2.7 million.
The largest number of tourists from China entered Mandalay International Airport in 2011 and 2012 and Thais were at the top of the arrival list in 2013 and 2014.
International airlines fly from Mandalay International Airport to Thailand, China, Singapore and Korea through direct flights. Seven international airlines and eight domestic airlines join the airport.–Min Htet Aung (Mandalay Sub-printing House)
