A virtual discussion event will be held in September for the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to recover during the coronavirus pandemic, the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) stated. The SMEs are hit hard during the pandemic. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in cooperation with the private organizations, will organize this to help the SMEs recover from the impacts. Through virtual discussion, strategies of effective management for the SMEs, the information and data and procedures to seek for JICA SME Two-Step Loan will be shared and supported. The discussion is scheduled to take place on 2 September, in Myanmar Language. Mr Sano Yuji, chief representative of JICA (Yangon) office, and his entourage met with UMFCCI President U Zaw Min Win and official concerned in advance of the discussion. The UMFCCI is helping the businesses stricken by the COVID-19 impacts in accessing the government coronavirus loan.
The UMFCCI received loan applications by 10 August. Starting from 11 August, the UMFCCI, officials from the SME Department, the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and 21 representatives from the affiliated organizations are assessing the coronavirus loan amount so that the business can take out a loan in time.
