Judgements passed on 936 criminal cases, 1,997 civil cases: Union Supreme Court

Union Supreme Court passed judgements on 936 criminal cases and 1,997 civil cases including 153 cases from last year, from 1 January to 31 December 2022, according to Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo.
He mentioned that when Union Supreme Court, regional and state high courts, self-administered division high court and self-administered zones high courts held a videoconferencing coordination meeting on 23 February.
Similarly, regional and state high courts received 4,505 criminal cases and heard 4,662 cases (including the remaining 157 cases from last year) with judgements being given. A total of 4,355 civil cases were received (including 677 from the previous year) and 5,032 cases were heard with judgements being passed.
In addition, 169,421 criminal cases were received in township courts (including 20,489 from last year) and 189,910 cases were heard with judgements being given. A total of 19,514 civil cases were received (including 6,200 from the previous year) and judgements were passed on 25,714 cases.
Municipal courts (Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay) received 5,942 cases filed under the Municipal Law and 6,175 cases (including 233 remaining cases from last year) were heard with judgements being given. A total of 45,547 traffic cases filed under the Vehicle Law were heard with judgements being passed in VehicleCourts in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay. — TWA/KZW
