Just as we are following the rules to protect ourselves from COVID, we must nurture good practices to survive in good health: State Counsellor

State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi wrote that just as Myanmar people were following rules to protect themselves from COVID, they must nurture good practices to survive in good health on her Facebook page yesterday. This was what she wrote:
The Ministry of Health and Sports has been issuing reminders frequently not to forget the dangers of diseases that occur during the Monsoon season because of COVID. I wonder whether all of you saw in the news which said that the number of deaths due to dengue fever this season was more than COVID related deaths.
You should protect yourself from diseases; that is the best way. If you can stop the disease before it reaches the stage when you need treatment, you can save yourself from having to spend a lot of money and also having to suffer physical stress.
I want our people to be healthy. No matter whether you are elderly or young, I want you all to be in a situation where you have physical as well as mental comfort. Not only to be free from the danger of COVID; I want you all to be free from all types of dangers. In working hard to be free from such dangers, it is not only the responsibility of the Union Government but also the responsibility of the people. Please stay healthy for your own sake, for your family, your community, for your country. Just as you are following rules to protect yourself from COVID, you need to nurture good practices to survive in good health. Although you might sometimes feel suffocated for having to live a healthy lifestyle, the long term value is quite significant. To be healthy is a great blessing not only for yourself but also for your country. (Translated by Kyaw Myaing)
