K1.89 bln worth of drugs seized in Thazi Township

A total of 37 kilogrammes of ketamine and 6.5 kilogrammes of Happy Water, with a combined value of K1.89 billion, were seized in Thazi Township, Mandalay Region, according to the Myanmar Police Force. Acting on a tip-off, a combined team, including the Anti-Drug Police Force, searched a motorbike driven by Pyae Phyo Kyaw (also known as Hmon Lay) near Taunggwa village in Thazi Township at 12:30 pm on 29 August. They confiscated 37 kilogrammes of ketamine and 6.5 kilogrammes of Happy Water, estimated to be worth K1.89 billion.
Following the investigation, the police arrested Thein Min Kyaw (also known as Phoe Htwe) and Naing Win Htun, who were implicated in drug trafficking, along with a Pajero, at 1 pm the same day on the Pyawbwe-Taunggyi Road. Additionally, Bo Bo Zaw, Ma Daing Nan (aka) Shwe Sin, and Win Ko Ko, who asked to transport the drugs, were arrested with a Toyota Landcruiser in Mahaaungmyay Township at 11:30 pm.
Suspects admitted that the seized drugs were intended to be transported from Shan State to Myawady Township in Kayin State.
Legal proceedings have commenced against offenders, and an ongoing investigation aims to apprehend other individuals involved in the case. — MNA/MKKS
