K158 million worth of raw opium impounded in Mandalay Region

The Anti-Drug Police Force seized 176.4 kilogrammes of raw opium worth over K158 million in the Thazi township of Mandalay Region.
The combined team consisting of the Anti-Drug Police Force searched a Mitsubishi Fuso 12 wheels truck driven by Pyae Phyo Tun accompanied by Myo Kyaw Thu and Thant Zin Ko at the Kywetatsone checkpoint in Thazi township in Mandalay region at 5 am on 2 August. They found 176.4 kilogrammes of raw opium worth over K158 million from the truck. According to the examination, raw opium will carry from southern Shan State to Sagaing Region and they are prosecuted under respective laws and perpetrators of the crime chain are being investigated and identified, it is learnt. — MNA
