K5.5 billion worth of illegal drugs seized in Kunhing, Mongpyin townships

Illegal drugs worth over K 5.5 billion were seized in Kunhing and Mongpyin townships, Shan State, according to the Myanmar Police Force.
A combined team consisting of members of the Anti-Drugs Police Force searched a 12-wheel Nissan diesel vehicle driven from Karli to Mongpyin by Sai Paung Nwam Kham (a) Kham Han Sint at the Takaw Bridge Combined Checkpoint on the Taunggyi-Tachilek road in Kunhing Township, on 26 February.
During the search, the police seized 150 kg of ICE (Methamphetamine) and 900,000 stimulant tablets from the vehicle.
On the morning of 27 February, the police searched a 12-wheel Nissan diesel which was parked on the roadside near mile post 284 on the Taunggyi-Tachilek Road in Mongpyin Township, Shan State (East), and seized 400 further kg of ICE (Methamphetamine).
It is reported that the confiscated illegal drugs were to be transported from Shan State (East) to abroad through border. Action is being taken against the arrested suspects and the related suspects will be identified and prosecuted.—MNA
