Kayin new year day ceremony marked in Pathein

The ceremony to mark the Kayin New Year Day was held at the Panglong Hall of No 5 Basic Education High School, Pathein, Ayeyawady Region, yesterday. The ceremony was attended by Mahn Nyein Maung, Member of the State Administration Council, Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win of Ayeyawady Region, South-West Command Commander Maj-Gen Aung Aung, officials, Kayin ethnic nationals and invited persons.
Firstly, the ceremony was opened with Member of SAC Mahn Nyein Maung striking the Phasi drum and he read out the Kayin New Year Day Message sent by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Then, the region chief minister and commander delivered the new year greetings before Region Minister for Ethnic Affairs Mahn Saw Linn Khel read the message sent by the Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs. At the ceremony, a Buddhist monk Bhaddanta Sumana and Catholic Priest Fr. Pius Mahn Tha Hwi also extended greetings. The ceremony was concluded by the speech of SAC Member Mahn Nyein Maung. After that, SAC Member Mahn Nyein Maung, the region Chief Minister and the Commander visited the traditional exhibitions.—MNA
