Kayin State Chief Minister urges all school-age ethnic youth to attend schools

With the reopening of universites and degree colleges and the reopening of basic education schools, Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo urged all ethnic youths of school-age to attend schools and parents of students to send their children to schools.
He was speaking at the concluding ceremony of the Kayin Literature and Culture Summer Course at the Auk Yaytakhun Monastery in Hlainggaba Village-tract, Hpa-an Township, at 8 am on 25 May.
The first Kayin Literature and Culture Instructor Refresher Course was held in 1968-1969 and the Golden Jubilee Course was not opened due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the Kayin State chief minister said.
“As the literature will be a beauty of a nation, our literature, culture, and traditions need to be maintained and promoted.
“Kayin youth must strive for the development of Kayin literature and culture,” he said.
He added that youths also need to learn skills in class.
During the award ceremony, the Kayin State Chief Minister presented the first, second, and third prizes to the outstanding attendees in the Kayin Literature and Culture Summer Course at the Hpa-an Township level.
Next, Chief Justice of the State High Court Daw Khin Swe Tun and Commander of the Kayin State Border Guard Force No 1016 Major Saw Soe Soe presented awards to the first, second, and third prize winners and dance performance troupes.
The chairman of the training committee, Commander of the Kayin State Border Guard Force No. 1016 Major Saw Soe Soe, handed over the certificate of appreciation to the Kayin State government for its support and was received by the Kayin State Minister for Ethnic Affairs U San Ko.
Attendees then sang the song of Kayin ethnics (Awhu Aw Hong), which means unity, and concluded the award-giving ceremony.
The award-presenting ceremony of the Kayin Literature and Culture Summer Course was organized by the Kayin people with an aim of preserving Kayin culture, language, arts and traditions and promoting sustainable development. — Saw Myo Min Thein (IPRD)/GNLM
