Kayin’s thread-tying ceremony held in Bago

SAC Member Mahn Nyein Maung (C), Union Minister Jeng Phang Naw Taung (R) and Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win (L) strike frog drums to launch the Kayin traditional event in Bago yesterday.

State Administration Council Member Mahn Nyein Maung, accompanied by Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung and Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win, attended the Kayin traditional white thread-tying festival at Bago City Hall yesterday.
The frog drum was first played to commence the event.
A Kayin Language teacher briefed all on the history of the white thread-tying ceremony. The SAC member and party enjoyed the traditional Kayin dance and participated in the festival together with Kayin youths.
They also provided cash assistance for Kayin elderly persons, the Bago Region Kayin Literature and Culture Committee and dance troupes. — MNA/KTZH
