Despite ongoing offline and online announcements for the Republic of Korea’s seasonal worker programme, the Korean embassy in Yangon has warned that the Korean Government hasn’t released any instructions or stance on the issue.
Although the Korean embassy made the above statement in October, offline and online advertisements for the seasonal worker programme are still being seen, it said.
Therefore, it restated the announcement following a prior one.
The embassy warned against making statements in the name of the Korean Government without any solid evidence.
Some young people in towns and villages are being recruited for Korea’s seasonal worker programme, according to the residents.
“People in towns and villages don’t read the news and don’t know much about it. Many men and women believed it and tried to join the team to go to Korea. Some gave up because they were dissuaded by knowledgeable people,” a local said.
Currently, the Public Overseas Employment Agency (POEA), sends Myanmar workers to Korea only under the Employment Permit System (EPS).
