The Chonbuk National University (CBNU) of the Republic of Korea has donated international standard classrooms and advanced laboratory apparatus to the Botany Department of the University of Dagon.
The donation ceremony was held at 9 am on 19 February at the Botany Department of Dagon University. Chonbuk National University Professor Bang Keuk Soo explained the purpose of the donation. Then, the Botany and Microbiology Department Dean, Professor Dr. Myat Myat Moe, gave words of thanks.
“Teachers can deliver lectures in the classroom with the help of ICT. Teaching with PowerPoint slides and video clips can be more effective for helping students learn within a far shorter period, said Dr. Myat Myat Moe.
The Botany Department of Dagon University has been conducting research and development for four years, beginning 2017, and will continue to do so for the next two years, in collaboration with CBNU. As part of the tie-up, the CBNU has donated advanced laboratory apparatus, worth over US$80,000, for the first year of collaboration, and international standard classrooms and micro-computers, worth nearly $80,000, for the second year.
Dagon University will also conduct research on reproductive tissue with CBNU.
CBNU professor Bang Keuk Soo said: “We’ll continue to cooperate for two more years. We also plan to upgrade the university library as well as the university building.”
