Ks3.6 billion to be spent on waterway development and prevention of riverbank erosion

A project to develop waterways and to prevent erosion of riverbanks will be implemented in the villages beside the Ayeyawady River in early 2017, it is learnt from Mandalay Region’s Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems Department.
Field studies were conducted in October, 2016. Tenders were invited by the department beginning from December 5.
“All the projects will start this financial year. We plan to implement the projects only when the water level in the river decreases. Some parts of the project will be implemented by the private companies. We will provide the technology,” said Director U Toe Aung Lin of the department.
The waterway development and riverbank erosion prevention measures will be implemented in Singu, Madaya, Patheingyi, Sintgaing, Taungtha and Myingyan townships.
The project will cost
Ks3.6billion, it is learnt from Mandalay Region’s Water Resources and Improvement of River Systems Department.
