Small and dried striped dwarf catfish (Ngasinyine) from Mon State’s Kyaikkhami, which are now being sold well, are also being exported to Thailand.
In Kyaikkhami Township’s dried fish market, these types of dried fish have received many orders.
“Small Ngasinyine is mainly exported to Thailand. This dried fish is also supplied domestically. We also supply it to Yangon. It is lightly salted and dried. Not very light. In the local market, it is supplied mostly to Yangon,” said a dried fish trader in the Kyaikkhami.
Its export route to Thailand is via the Kawthoung-Ranong route, and it is one of the top-selling dried fish.
“We send them to Thailand from the Kawthoung-Ranong route. Because there are many Myanmar people in Thailand, they like it, and it is sold well. We sell about 400-500 tonnes a week. It is worth consuming at its price,” he said. — Thit Taw/ZN
