Livestock Breeding and Veterinary officials to be prosecuted for corruption cases

The Anti-Corruption Commission received a complaint that Magway Region Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department’s Regional Head and his subordinates committed corruption by misusing the money — training fees and expenditures for office buildings — provided by the government.
The Anti-Corruption Commission set up an investigation committee to investigate the case.
It was found that Magway Region Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department’s Regional Head and Director Dr Maung Maung Soe Oo committed corruption in re-allocating the expenditures for training and office buildings, provided by the 2018-2019 State budget, to the respective subordinate townships. Regarding the training, Dr Maung Maung Soe Oo demanded Kyat 20,000 per a two-day course and Kyat 50,000 per a five-day course from the respective townships, through Deputy Staff Officer Daw Thandar Sint. After complaints concerning the corruption, he re-transferred the money, a total of Kyat 1.5 million, to the respective townships via the Myanma Economic Bank.
Through Daw Thandar Sint, he also asked for Kyat 2.5 million out of Kyat 8 million allocated by the state for the renovation of YesagyoTownship office building in the 2018-2019 fiscal year. He also received Kyat 500,000 transferred by Yesagyo Township Department Head.
It was found that the Deputy Staff Officer Daw Thandar Sint also received Kyat 200,000 and helped Dr Maung Maung Soe Oo to commit corruption.
Currently the Anti-Corruption Commission is working to charge Dr Maung Maung Soe Oo under section 56 of the Anti-Corruption Law and charge Daw Thandar Sint under section 56/63 of the law, according to the commission. — MNA (Translated by Maung Maung Swe)
