A coordination meeting of officials from Region/State General Administration Departments was held to discuss measures on prevention, control and treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) yesterday.
U Min Thu, Union Minister for the Office of the Union Government, presided over the meeting at his office in Nay Pyi Taw.
He discussed the formation of National-level Central Committee for COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment, chaired by State Counsellor, and the public announcements of President’s Office, including prohibition of festivals and entertainment events (including constructions of water-throwing pandals for Myanmar traditional water festival) until 30 April, postponement of overseas trainings, meetings and study tours for civil service staff; if the civil service personnel, who have been in official overseas visits, were suspected for the virus infection when they arrived back home, they would be quarantined for 14 days; issuing directives to related departments.
The Union Minister suggested the local administrators to conduct awareness programmes on the virus at respective areas, to inform about the suspected patients to nearby health centres, and to conduct surveillance on foreign visitors and Myanmar citizens who arrived back to home through border gateways, and to coordinate with relevant departments on treatments and containment of the disease.
Officers from administration offices of Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Sagaing, Taninthayi, Bago, Magway, Mandalay, Mon, Rakhine, Yangon, Shan, Ayeyawady and Nay Pyi Taw Council Area presented the local situations.
After the report of Deputy Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of the Office of the Union Government on the working plans, the Union Minister held talks on the coordination of local offices in measures against the Covid-19.
