Magway govt to plant 160,000 trees this year

A total of 163,320 trees will be planted in Magway Region in the 2021 monsoon, according to the Forest Department of Seikphyu Township.
The department conserves the forests and establishes forest plantations to reduce the temperature and maintain the ecosystem. In addition to state-owned commercial teak plantations, the officials established village firewood plantations, collective forest plantations, and public plantations to protect against natural disasters.
The government arranged 6,050 plants, including eucalyptus and wild almond for 50acres of village firewood plantations, 31,000 trees for public farm, 15,520 teak/wild almond trees for 103.47 acres of collective plantations and 23,000 plants for special greening operation in Kazunma, Thabyay and Myoma gardens.
Currently, the government operates 100 acres of commercial teak plantations and arranges to plant 54,000 teak trees, said U Zin Win Htut, head of township Forest Department. – Ko Zwe/GNLM
