Magway Region has over 500,000 senior citizens to cast advance votes


There are over 500,000 senior citizens aged 60 years, and above who are eligible to cast advance votes in Magway Region, the regional election sub-commission stated. Those older people can cast their advance ballots between 29 October and 5 November.
“Those eligible voters aged 60 years and above in the townships under the Stay-at-Home order and the crowded townships with 5,000 people per square kilometre can cast their votes from home, to ensure the safety amid the COVID-19. The commission will provide door to door service for those older adults as they have difficulties to go to the polling station under the Stay-at-Home order. The elderly people in the townships which is excluded in this can cast their advance votes at the respective sub-commissions,” said U Soe Htut Oo, secretary of regional election sub-commission.
In a bid to reduce the public gathering and ensure the safe polls, those eligible older people can cast the advance vote under the Union Election Commission Law.
