In the 2024-2025 financial year, Mandalay Region will carry out 625 laboratory tests on small-scale industrial products before they are released to the domestic market, according to U Win Bo, head of the Mandalay Region Small Scale Industry Department.
The tests will cover foodstuffs and consumer goods. Food products must pass lab registration requirements to ensure hygiene and safety before entering the market.
“We are conducting laboratory examinations for foodstuffs and consumer goods that apply for registration with our department before they are released into the market. Registrations are only approved after successful lab tests. This year, we plan to conduct 625 laboratory examinations,” U Win Bo explained.
In the 2023-2024 financial year, a total of 1,098 laboratory tests were completed for small industrial products intended for the Mandalay Region market. — ASH/TMT
