Mandalay walking event sees over 4000 participants

Over 4000 people took part in a mass walking event held in Mandalay to mark the All-Round Youth Development Festival (Mandalay) yesterday morning.
The event, which started in front of the Main Hall of the Mandalay University, was held with the aim of developing the five strengths of youths — physical, intellectual, moral, societal and economic – including academic and technological knowledge and ethics of youths and building a future human society through their excellent views.
At 5am, Union Ministers Dr Pe Myint, Dr Myo Thein Gyi and Dr Myint Htwe, Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr Zaw Myint Maung, deputy ministers, members of the region cabinet, departmental officials, rectors, teachers, students of various educational institutions and schools, government employees and local people took their respective positions at the starting point. The event started when Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe fired a gun shot. The participants walked along the university ring road that passed the Convocation Hall, the four-storey building, Inwa Hall and U Razak Hall. When they arrived back at the staring point, they performed physical exercises.
Well-wishers provided the participants with traditional snacks, soft drinks and coffee.
At 7am, Union Ministers Dr Pe Myint Dr Myo Thein Gyi and Dr Myint Htwe, deputy ministers, directors-general and officials enjoyed taekwondo, wushu, karatedo and gymnastic skills of athletes and performances of Myanmar Fitness Dance troupe of the region sports subcommittees of the Sports and Physical Education Department at the indoor stadium of the university.—Tin Maung (Mandalay Sub-printing House)
